Call For Submissions: Halloween Edition – All Of Them Witches

With the highly anticipated Luca Guadagnino remake coming up in November, this Halloween Berlin Film Society revisits Dario Argento’s 1977 Giallo cult classic  –  a neon fever dream about a young American student (Jessica Harper) who encounters sinister dance teachers, maggots, and a hell lot of scarlet-red blood after being accepted into a prestigious German ballet academy. Since we’re feeling spooky this season, we are now accepting submissions on films and television series about the bewitching allure of witches and the occult. From Häxen to Hereditary, we’re interested in essays, think pieces, and reviews in the following sub-categories:

FILM

Examples: Kiki’s Delivery Service, The Craft, Hereditary, Black Sunday, The Love Witch, Antichrist, Rosemary’s Baby, I Am Not A Witch

TELEVISION

Examples: True Detective, Charmed, True Blood, The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, American Horror Story, Game Of Thrones, Twin Peaks, Penny Dreadful

For more film titles under this theme, be sure to check out our Letterboxd list where we have over 50 recommendations!

We are open to submissions under this theme until November 4th. For more details regarding our criteria, please head over to our Submissions page.

Please send your finished work to [email protected]

The Berlin Film Society will screen Suspiria at Staatliche Ballettschule und Schule für Artistik on October 31st and November 1st, introduced with a live ballet performance by Cristina Perera. Tickets are officially sold out.
