Berlin Film Journal is currently on a hiatus! In light of recent events in 2020, our team is taking some personal time off from updating the site to focus on family and other projects. We will therefore not be publishing any new submissions for the time being! But not to worry, we will be back!

Short articles or reviews:

  • 250 – 600 words
  • writers are asked to submit a completed work

Feature articles, essays, or interviews:

  • to be 700 – 1500 words in length
  • writers are asked to submit either a summary or a pitch, with completed work to be submitted upon approval

We will also need a number of images to accompany your piece. Please provide images in .jpeg form, with correct copyright information and source. If in doubt about an image, please get in touch.

Understand that Berlin Film Journal cannot pay contributors at this time. Our online platform is run by the Berlin Film Society, a non-profit organisation made up of volunteer students and young freelancers who contribute their efforts to this site for their sheer love of cinema. We aim to change this situation in future, though for the time being we offer contributors the opportunity to find their writing voice and be a part of the Berlin film network -may it be engaging in our events, or receiving accreditation to Berlinale.
